Excellent news! Coln had a meeting yesterday with the artist guys at Roland, and they have agreed that Drumsense tutors will be able to buy ANY Roland product to equip their teaching setup at a major discount to retail. Details in the tutor forum here.

Jon Rasmussen

Hi, my name is Jon and I have been playing music since I was 13 years old,33 years ago now. I have been playing drums for about 15 years and teaching them for the last 8. I originally started my playing days on guitar and bass, moving on to piano and saxophone soon after. I still teach these instruments as well, although the vast majority of my students are drummers.

I have played in lots of different musical situations, cover bands, original music, theatre; playing a range of music from classical, show tunes, jazz, rock, metal, funk and fusion.

My experience playing other instruments has REALLY helped me to be able to teach new drummers not just the technical skills required to play but also how to play in a live situation with other musicians. For example, I am able to accompany my students on bass, or rhythm guitar and give them a real taste of drumming as part of a rhythm section in a band.

I have built my own teaching studio in the grounds of my house. I have 2 drum kits to teach people on - an acoustic and electric kit. I also have a recording studio located nearby where I create my own backing tracks for the different instruments I teach.

The ages of my students range from 5 to 67 (at the moment).

I do not teach any grades in music as I prefer to teach students through the actual songs they wish to learn. By breaking down songs into manageable pieces I take students through a 'syllabus' of my own design.

I look forward to working alongside you in future should you wish to engage my services.
